He understood me in ways that no other person ever had. He was lonely, & he was sad, & he somehow reminded me of me. He had lost things similar to the things I, too, have lost. When he spoke to me it was almost lyrical; our words composed poetry that could put even the grandest of love stories to shame. I never had to weigh my thoughts nor measure my words, spilling them out just as they came, he knew where they came from & why. After I had fallen asleep he would whisper softly in my ear of all the ways he loved me & his lips would gently caress the flesh just below my ear. He restored lost hope for humanity, & he reminded me how beautiful the world can be. These are the reasons that I love him, & for as long as this heart beats in my chest it will love him.
The clouds all ran away & opened up the sky;
one by one I watched as every constellation began to die.
There I was frozen—standing in my backyard;
face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last lonely star,
but I should have known… I walked all the way home
just to find that you were no longer here & I was still alone.
